If you’re a football fan, or soccer if you’re from the US, you’ve probably been watching the EURO cup. This year’s host country is France and in preparation for the matches to come, Parisian photographer Matias Indjic and agency Matter decided to capture the main players of the French national team, Les Bleu. The series is a mix between poignant black and white and brilliant color photos. The emotions conveyed by the players range from expectation and joy; to suspense and determination.
The UEFA European Championship has a long and rich history. Starting back in 1960, teams throughout Europe have competed for the championship in different host countries every four years, the first champions being the Soviet Union national team. Back in 2010, France was named hosts for the finals of the first 24-team tournament and has put extreme efforts into ensuring that the event will be sustainable and socially responsible. This will be France’s third year hosting the EUROs, with the 24 national teams playing 51 games in the 10 stadiums located throughout France.
