Stephen Curry was this year’s NBA MVP and the first unanimous one in history. This is a guy who can consistently nail the half-court trick shots you and your friends used to attempt on the playground. He’s in a strange league of his own, making seemingly buzzer-beater shots throughout the game. So when he goes to the line after being fouled, it’s a breeze for him—we’re talking 9 out of 10 on the regular—and still it’s easier for a suspected terrorist to purchase a gun than for Curry to make a free throw.
Sure, that’s not exactly a comparison you’d expect, nor the artwork [by Vox‘s Zachary Crockett] you figure would catch your eye in an article that dives deep into Curry’s shooting percentage. But it drives the point home. This is a man who can make at least 90% of his free throws for several years and still a gun buy is still less of an effort for a suspected terrorist.
