Flowery Prints Send NSFW Messages in the Most Cheery Way

In case you just can’t get your fill of hand-made prints, artist Rose Currie of Rose Lemonade may be your next favorite bookmark. Her work mixes grandma-chic aesthetics (think lots of watercolor flowers in cool palettes) with a little millennial sarcasm. The result? Prints on prints that showcase in-your-face messages in the prettiest packages.

In a world of positive Pinspiration, Currie’s work offers real-life inspiration to people whose lives are less than perfect. Her Wallflower series features prints (greeting cards, too) that deliver bits of sardonic encouragement like “cheer the fuck up” and “calm the fuck down,” all illustrated in the most lovely and cheery watercolors of flowers like dogwoods and hydrangeas. Sure, it’s harsh language. But that’s what makes them so delightful.

According to Currie, the series is inspired by her own philosophy. As she explains, her work is “inspired by life and my personal conviction of, when life give you lemons, make art.”
