Christine McConnell is a woman with many talents. Based out of Los Angeles, she is not only a professional photographer and stylist, she is also an artist, self-taught baker, and a seamstress. With over 200,000 followers on Instagram, McConnell is widely known for her creepy and over-the-top desserts, which she documents and shares with her fans daily.
At a glance, McConnell looks like a 1950’s Stepford wife with her polished looks and handmade wardrobe, but behind it all is a talented and driven woman who believes that every opportunity given to you should be taken. Recently, McConnell has released Deceptive Desserts: A Lady’s Guide to Baking Bad!, a debut cookbook where she teaches readers how to make all of her wonderful creations. Each cake, cookie, or cupcake that McConnell makes has a Tim Burton-esque style to it, with nods to David Lynch. Inspired by 1970 British Chef Fanny Cradock, McConnell is truly a woman that does it all.
A photographer since the age of 19, McConnell sets up, photographs, and models for all of the images that she posts, in addition to creating many of the outfits she poses in. Speaking about her skyrocket to fame, she says, “I never grew up expecting any of it. But you only live once, and you should take every opportunity.” McConnell is currently on a book signing tour throughout the United States. Copies of her book can be picked up at various book stores and sold online.
