Based in Barcelona, Spain, illustrator and graphic designer Marti Serra, under the guise of moniker DSORDER, was to bestow a personality—an identity, really—upon each album coming from He-Art Recordings, a vinyl label founded by Oscar Aguilera. But rather than assigning purposes and building logic from scratch, Serra decided to let the music speak for itself.
Inspired by the layers of Earth, the biggest heart surrounding the human race, Serra went to work by swirling together sights and sounds. As Serra explains, “We applied the physical vibration of He-Art music coming out a speaker against physical inks; using computer apps to adjust color only, bringing the label-design to a pure, abstract, and conceptual art level of work.”
What was left was unique properties of each record, individually inviting the prospective listener and/or warning he or she what they may be in for.
