Let’s be real: If Drake had been in Super Mario Bros., Peach would have been all about that hotline bling. Just in case you were wondering what the most popular hip-hop stars would look like in a video game, look no further than A.Mulli’s Instagram.
A.Mulli (aka Adam Mulligan) is a 23-year-old artist based in the UK who’s been transforming his favorite hip-hop stars into awesome 8-bit graphics. He calls the process “pixeling,” and it’s giving us awesome arcade flashbacks.
Mulligan began pixeling in 2015 and has since racked up an impressive 379 8-bit posts. He began with hip-hop artists, including Travis Scott, Wiz Khalifa, and 50 Cent. He even did a series titled “Yevolution” featuring 9 different Kanyes and one North West. The artist told the Miami New Times, “Kanye West is one of those eccentric and massively creative people who I just couldn’t sum up in one avatar.”
Although the artist has pixeled over 150 hip-hop artists, his work is not to be pigeonholed. His Instagram features 8-bits of pop culture and other genres. He’s pixeled David Bowie, the cast of Game of Thrones, Star Wars, the Beatles, Ed Sheeran, and many more.
