A graphic designer out of Jakarta, Indonesia, his digital photo work has netted him nearly 100,000 followers and it’s easy to see why. His photos whisk you away to a world just beyond our own—or, rather, inspired by our own.

In Pratama’s world, fantasy and reality are constantly flirting. Sweeping landscapes and panoramas are contorted. Images are mirrored or transposed. And beautiful natural landscapes are mashed up, creating worlds that looks fantastical yet somehow believable. We caught up with him to find out more about his process and his favorite pieces thus far.

What inspires your work?

There are lot of things that inspire me to create an artwork. But mostly movies—or sometimes just playing with my imagination.

How would you describe your aesthetic style?

Surreal landscape artworks that consist of mind-bending scenes where dreamscapes are flipped into unusual angles or folded into each other. I don’t know exactly the name of this kind of style. Many of my artwork compositions look like scenes from Inception.

What equipment do you use?

Just a laptop and Photoshop.

How long does it take to complete an image?

It takes 15-30 minutes. The hardest part is not how to create it, but the pre-creation or finding the ideas.

What’s the best piece of creative advice you ever received?

“Art is pointless without passion. You have to go out and create art. Do what you love and make a living by being yourself.” This quote really inspired me to live as an artist.
