Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Drawn in the Style of Calvin & Hobbes

For any 80s child, this could be the ultimate mashup. Brian Kesinger–a story artist at Walt Disney animation studios and an artist for Marvel Comics–has blended the world of Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes with the characters from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It’s absolutely charming.

Sharing his work on Instagram, Kesinger weaves a retelling that sees Ray and BB-8 sledding down a hill on a piece of space junk–almost like a toboggan in the snow. A young Kylo Ren goes exploring with his idol Darth Vader. And “Spaceman” Finn crashes on a foreign planet… yes, you 80s kids remember these stories. Kesinger tells Buzzfeed:

“Bill Watterson has been one of my biggest artistic influences so it was a fun opportunity to combine two of my favorite things.”
