Come with me and you’ll be in a world of pure imagination. This song has been stuck in my head since I first looked at Rich Pellegrino’s phenomenal portrait of Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. Pellegrino creates vibrant illustrations of some of the most easily recognizable figures in pop culture. Clearly a huge fan of Bill Murray (portraying him in his roles from Caddyshack, Life Aquatic, & Rushmore), the illustrator chooses facial expressions that embody each character to a T. Each one of Pellegrino’s portraits from cult classic movies, such as Pretty in Pink, Back to the Future, The Big Lebowski, and Little Shop of Horrors capture the exact image that comes to mind for each role. Television Lets You Reach Inside, Control the Action
You remember Wonkavision from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, right? Well that portal like ability to reach in and manipulate things inside your television has just become reality… or pretty close. Media student Jayne Vidheecharoen from the Art Center College of Design in California has designed a prototype TV that converts physical hands into virtual ones when users put them in the back of the television, allowing them to manipulate what’s on the screen. The Wildest Office in the World
Called, “Americas largest invention factory,” Davison’s Inventionland is quite possibly the most eccentric office building in the world. With treehouses, giant shoes, boat’s and more in place of cubicles, it all makes sense for a firm that boasts production of 2,000-2,400 new inventions each year. The 61,000 square foot home to this “wonderland specifically designed to spark imagination and foster creative thinking” is in Pittsburg, PA.
