A rich space tourist who earlier payed $20 million to visit the International Space Station, is now working to promote an even more ambitious project – a manned flyby around the planet Mars in 2018. From the groundbreaking Curiosity rover exploring the surface of Mars, to the reality TV funded Mars One project, the world is pushing hard to put the first permanent inhabitants on the surface of another world. That is the proposition the non-profit organization Mars One is putting forth for a group of 4 brave people with a distinct lack of nostalgia for old Mother Earth. Once on the red planet, they will establish a habitable, sustainable outpost designed to receive additional astronauts every two years.
