Around the world people are fighting for their rights, protesting their oppressive governments, and uniting to take a stand. It’s inspirational to see stories like these and they give hope to people all over the planet. Now you can find them all in one place. CrowdVoice is a user-powered service that crowdsources information to track voices of protest from around the world. Instead of checking news, video and social networking sites for updates on the issues that matter to you, you can find it all in one place and subscribe to whichever categories you prefer. You can also add content to CrowdVoice and contribute to the Crowd by approving the submissions of others. Bill Liao, co-founder of Xing.com says, “This is the purpose for which social media was truly born for.”

The rise of social sharing sites has brought about an interesting change in how our data is being used. All of the different sites you frequent on a daily basis are actively gathering facts about you. You may have noticed that when you were searching for a perfect new summer tank top on Urban Outfitters, that when you left to check other websites those same tank tops started following you in ads on those new sites. Social networks are betting on a future built on a personalized web, an Internet paradise filled with items the virtual you will be more apt to share, pin, tweet, or “like.” [Read more...]
Pinterest is making an actual vision board obsolete. People are flocking to the social networking site to keep a virtual space of recipes, decor ideas, fashion must-haves, beauty tips, and artwork. By now, most people are familiar with the pull Pinterest commands around the web in terms of driving traffic — as compared to other social networks. Almost two out of five consumers follow retailers through one or more social networking sites, with Pinterest users following an average of 9.3 retail companies… that is more than the average amount of Facebook and Twitter users. With so much happening on Pinterest, it only makes sense that retailers set up a Pinterest profile and interact with consumers on the platform. [Read more...]

One of the most difficult things for an artist to master today is keeping up in the digital age, and that means getting their work out to the masses (and that certain someone who can buy/pay them for their work). I’ve spoken to artists who either have no clue of where to be on the Internet, or don’t have the time to keep up with 9 different profiles across the creative portfolio landscape.
