A Remixed Taxonomy of the Animal World

Wednesday 01.09.2013 , Posted by

Penelope Kenny Collage 2

If combined groups of birds, mammals, insects and fish managed to converge on one point at high speed, the resulting collision might create something like the work of Penelope Kenny. After the fur, scales and feathers had settled, you’d be looking at perfectly formed remixes of the animal world: cockatoos with rabbit heads, hummingbirds with grasshopper bodies and one deer with a bouncy kangaroo torso. Perhaps the strangest part of all this: the animals would look surprisingly beautiful. [Read more...]

Creative Catharsis: Posters of Strange Client Quotes

Monday 11.12.2012 , Posted by

Despite the fact that many people do it for the creative aspects, design is often a customer service job. So, as with all work serving peoples needs, there are always clients with some unusual, if misguided requests. This collection of fun A3 posters was collectively made by Irish ad creatives, designers, animators, directors, and illustrators in their time off. The series, appropriately called A Creative Catharsis, transforms frustrating yet hilariously memorable client quotes into posters. [Read more...]

Charis Tsevis: Beautiful Obama Posters from Greece

Saturday 11.10.2012 , Posted by

It’s been a massively challenging election year, with plenty of twists, turns and mud thrown along the way. Now with Obama in the White House for another 4 years, his supporters are still celebrating the victory… but it isn’t just Americans who are doing the rejoicing, or who helped him stay in power. A large portion of the world population supported Obama this election, with people from Africa to Europe hoping for his re-election. Greek graphic designer Charis Tsevis was one of these people. Having a Rough Day? Have an Emergency Compliment.

Monday 10.29.2012 , Posted by

Some days it feels like the only things we hear are negative: from a boss wondering why that impossibly big task isn’t done, to a friend telling you about the spinach you’ve had in your teeth for an hour… or even your old printer whining as it eats the tenth piece of paper.

Small Snippets of Wisdom From Literary Greats

Monday 10.15.2012 , Posted by

Sometimes the very biggest nuggets of wisdom are contained in the very smallest amount of words. Great authors have known that and so does Evan Robertson. His new posters might be the best thing since that last novel you couldn’t put down: short quotes from literary greats like Edgar Allan Poe and Hunter S. Thompson; all printed beside Robertson’s brilliantly clean illustrative work. What draws him to these small snippets of text? [Read more...]

Safety, Speed, Comfort: Rare Posters of World Travel

Monday 10.01.2012 , Posted by

Before you could easily jet-set around the world, reaching your destination in only a matter of hours, the prospect of world travel was far more slow… and probably more exciting. Now Zeitlos, a Berlin based purveyor of vintage design, is opening an exhibition of rare travel posters from the dawn of world travel. Featuring ocean liners, fast (and safe) trains, airplanes and even a few rare zeppelins, the posters are beautiful examples of the exciting time when foreign lands seemed further away… and even more foreign. Jay Fleck: Illustrating the Childhood Imagination

Thursday 09.06.2012 , Posted by

If there is one word to sum up the illustrations of Jay Fleck, it would have to be “FUN”. His colorful works seem to draw from the inspiring world of childhood, creating fantasies filled with octopus, pirates, rocket ships and elephants… all translated into a graphical world even we adults can relate to. It must be his obvious love for his own kids and the inspiration they bring into his life. [Read more...]

Sometimes illustrations look so daunting that it is hard to believe that a human, even with the help of a computer, can produce such incredibly intricate artwork… but somehow they still manage to produce these things of wonder. Beyond the most skilled at computer illustration, the way these creations come to life is truly a mystery… that is until now. Kevin Tong is the master behind this poster, featuring a tribute to H.G. Wells Time Machine, and has been gracious enough to provide a time lapse of his craft. [Read more...]
