Photographer Vincent Laforet has been on aerial photo shoots above New York City over 50 times in the last 15 years, but this time was “by far the most frightening flight of them all.” Leaving the door open on the helicopter, his team flew to over 7000 ft. above the city – something rarely done at night. Ole Salomonsen spent over 6 months in and around the Norwegan city of Tromsø, capturing over 50,000 still images to make this enchanting film. His many dedicated months in the snow have created one of the very best representations of a uniquely polar phenomena, the Northern Lights. Salomonsen says he tried “to preserve the real-time speed of the northern lights, or come as close as possible, and present it the way I experienced it.” Music for the video was created by a local Tromsø talent, Per Wollen, who’s audio track “Aurora in the Sky” can be found on iTunes.
