This Labyrinth Table is Elegant Entertainment (Even if it Was Inspired by The Shining)

Artist and furniture maker Benjamin Nordsmark wanted to give an ‘extra dimension’ to the conventional table, so he created a small universe inside one. His Labyrinth Table manages to be both elegant and entertaining, featuring an elaborate arrangement of walls under its glass top. Inside are 6 characters who can be moved around the space with magnets that attach to the bottom of the table. It’s a nostalgic tribute to childhood and an encouragement to play and explore.

…and if this labyrinth looks a bit familiar, he modelled it after the one featured at the Overlook Hotel in Stanley Kubrick’s terrifying film, The Shining.

There is no word on whether or not she will be making copies available, but she has shared the much-wondered about answer to people’s questions about her father’s occupation- he works in the athletic department at a public university… as a janitor!

With hundreds of hours of patience and thousands of pounds of salt, Japanese artist Motoi Yamamoto draws vast mazes on smooth floors. Like painting with an hourglass, he lets salt flow from a plastic bottle normally used for machine oil, slowly drawing what he calls his “Labyrinths.”
