A Mother’s Body: Photoshop Free Portraits Honor The True Beauty Of Motherhood

Like snowflakes, there are no two humans on this Earth exactly alike, yet all of our billboards would have us believing differently. While everyone is still probably overwhelmed by the courage that Kim Kardashian showed when she revealed her photoshopped body to the internet in attempts to “break it”, there are actually some mothers whose postpartum bodies aren’t so smooth and glistening. Photographer Jade Beall was one of them and she decided to post a picture of her un-retouched body, holding her infant son, on her Facebook page. The photo went viral and soon other women were asking Beall to photograph their bodies too. Hearing their stories inspired Beall to set out to show the world that being yourself is the most beautiful thing you can be.

Love Can Feel Like Floating (and In This Video That Means Air Surfing Through NYC)

“After a perfect kiss, you get a feeling of weightlessness. You can compare the sensation to floating or flying.” That’s the spirit captured in this charming stop-motion short, which features a couple floating in the bliss of newfound love and an unlikely sight on the streets of New York City: surfboards.

This 93 Year-Old Grandmother Is Still Living A Vibrant Life Through The Lens of Her Granddaughter

Brazilian photographer Adelaide Ivánova, currently studying in Berlin, has found the perfect subject in her 93 year-old grandmother. For the past 10 years Ivánova has captured her grandmother’s zest for life through lively moments, as well as mundane, stereotypical elderly moments like visits to the eye doctor. The grandmother, also named Adelaide, was the mother of sixteen children and supported her family by selling cakes when her husband’s grocery business went bankrupt. Her strength of character is evident throughout the series. The series was shot in Reclife and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

It’s a Lunatic Bum. It’s a New Age Tom Green. It’s Matthew Silver: The Great Performer

Laughter is contagious. Energy moves through the universe in a ripple affect. When we take ourselves too seriously, we block this powerful flow, but Matthew Silver is trying to break the dam that society has built and remind the world that it’s okay to laugh. It’s okay to look up and interact with people. It’s okay to be the “village idiot” and it’s okay to laugh with strangers. And the more we do, the happier the world will be. Like Tom Green with a positive message, street artist Matthew Silver can bring a smile to the faces of even the most serious New Yorkers. With an element of surprise, he acts as a modern day jester and works just as hard to make people laugh as others do to buy more stuff.

“Love From Hawaii”- People in Hawaii Send Encouraging Advice to Complete Strangers Around the World

In this life we all have good days and bad days, struggles and triumphs, hopes and fears, but we are all in this “human” thing together and sometimes encouraging words from another human can help us put things in perspective. Jeff Hamada, founder of Booooooom.com, decided to help orchestrate this process with a project he calls “Love From Hawaii.” Last year, he asked readers to explain why they were in need of encouragement and received hundreds of responses with stories. He brought these responses with him to beautiful Honolulu, where he was attending the annual Pow! Wow! Hawaii Art Festival and hit the streets to ask random people to take one of the stories and send the encouragement-seeker a postcard with some words of advice.

The When and Why of the Breakup (or What Happens When Relationships Go South)

As the old song says “breaking up is hard to do”… but perhaps a little insight could help us understand why it happens in the first place. Information designers David McCandless and Lee Byron teamed up to create three graphics dedicated to breakup miscellaneum – from what day of the year is the most popular breakup day (the first Monday of December), to the country with the most affairs (we’re looking at you Turkey!).

Since their photos have circulated the internet, copycats are documenting their vacations and travel in the same way and the couple couldn’t be more pleased.
