Attempting to define the Burning Man gathering to someone who hasn’t been is like trying to explain the color of blue to a blind person. The gathering, which started in 1986 on the beaches of San Francisco, has evolved to over 50,000 participants yearly in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada. This year the gathering will be from August 26-September 2, 2013. [Read more...]

Sometimes with our ambitions we forget to stop and smell the roses. You may not know but Jessica Czeck and I drove 15,000 miles in 6 months around the USA in the Visual News Van (see the image of the van at the bottom of the post). On this trip we met many artists and people of all different walks. I learned so much about myself that I never thought I could. Jessica expanded my mind beyond what I could even think was there. She has been so patient with me and I would have never thought I deserved to be loved so much. [Read more...]

Typies Literally Launched All Over Barcelona

Thursday 11.08.2012 , Posted by

To mark Typie’s product launch they invited people on the streets of Barcelona to literally launch each letter of their cushion alphabet onto a moving couch with wheels! They filmed the entire experience from A to Z in one day from the beach to the plazas and every side street in between, then edited it into this awesome, fun video. One handed or two, between the legs or over the head, the throwing techniques were as different as the people who threw them. They used B for Ben, J for Jessica, P for Paul, etc. A unique cushion for each person’s initial. The last letter was thrown through Typie’s creator Soraia Balelo’s balcony window. [Read more...]

Before I Hide Away: The Artwork of Brandi Milne

Saturday 09.01.2012 , Posted by

Brandi Milne’s work speaks from human emotions – the worlds of love, loss, pain and heartbreak, but also so much beauty. Her works speak from the heart of someone with so much to say, but at one point in time thought no one would be interested. Her show, titled “Before I Hide Away,” emphasizes these doubts and blows them completely away at the same time. Her loss, pain and heartbreak are shrouded behind the cloaks of humor, and pink hues of candy coated wonderlands, detailing shy, whimsical figures waiting to tug on your heart strings. Her work is beautiful — staggeringly so — and we’re all better people for the fact she has chosen to share her world with us. [Read more...]

no boogieman under my bed-just a couple in my head

Picasso said: “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” Indeed, many of us who are in the art field find ourselves here because as children we continued to paint when others stopped. Perhaps some parents tried to dissuade us — even prohibit the occupation we chose — in order to follow something more… ”serious”. Others more fortunate, had the support of family who, recognizing our passion, prompted to us to follow the profession that we now practice.

Most of us working as designers, have the blessing of being able to say we turned our hobby into a profession. We say that very often, but how conscious are we of that in our daily lives? [Read more...]

Love Is Making its Way Home

With over 12,000 pieces of construction paper, a beautiful vision, and lots of patience, director Erez Horovitz and his animation team of almost twenty people have produced a captivating 4 minute stop-motion animation that will leave you smiling and whistling. This short music video featuring Josh Ritter’s (voted by Paste Magazine as one of the top 100 living songwriters) song of the same title tells the captivating story of a man leaving the country for the city, falling in love, and… you guessed it… “making his way back home” to the country to settle down.
