We just ran across this somewhat prophetic ad campaign from Reporters Without Borders. Produced about a year ago, it features crinkled images of world leaders who use an iron grip on press freedom to lead their nations. The images expose the controlling and distorted messages these leaders exhort, while at the same time symbolically silencing their voice. Gaddafi, infamous dictator of the now tumultuous Libya is featured, as is North Korea’s Kim Jong-il and Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Talking with many well known professionals in the field and even with some of their clients, these videos explore what goes into commissioning, creating and delivering a graphic design piece. Font Face Fashion: Typography in Makeup
With a play on words for inspiration, Font Face is a project by Spanish design studio Atipo which pays tribute to 4 typographic legends and their creators. Represented in bold black and white makeup are: Carousel Medium, Clarendon Bold, Caslon Italic and of course Helvetica Bold. Produced from the project are four large posters perfect for putting a smile on the face of any font fan.

The Personal Touch on Informative Graphics
Instead of using vector drawings normally associated with informational graphics, designer Peter Ørntoft has used carefully planned photographs to create a series of booklets based on opinion polls for 10 Danish social topics. Exploring statistics related to crime, religion and health, his work puts a very personal and hands-on touch to these social numbers, asking the viewer not only to learn from the information, but to feel it as well.
