Cars We Love 1

Sometimes the stars of our favorite films aren’t just the kind walking on 2 legs… they’re often the ones with 4 wheels that act as the main focus of famous chase scenes. Take the iconic Batmobile for example. The famous “mobile” has made it through a number of renditions, from the sleek George Barris built custom from the early 60s to the big-wheeled Tumbler of today’s Christopher Nolan directed films. Each one has sparked the imagination of viewers worldwide, inspiring some to create artistic tributes to their iconic forms. Turkish photographer Cihan Ünalan is that kind of fan, and he’s currently making a series of images paying tribute to famous movie cars and “mobiles,” giving us a refined look at their fantastic designs. Actors Laughing 1- Kill Bill

After months of working together, the actors become close, and even in the most serious cinematic scenes, there is bound to be laughter in between sets. Redditor Join_You_In_The_Sun gathered this awesome collection from some of these funny moments captured on camera. On the set of Kill Bill, Uma Thurman and Lucy Liu take a break from their sword fight to cheese it up. Batman (Christian Bale) and Bane (Tom Hardy) put aside their “differences” for a good belly laugh for The Dark Knight Rises. Enjoy this collection and if you’re on Reddit, give Join_You_In_The_Sun an upvote! [Read more...]

Movies in Color: Film Stills Broken Down by Color

Scarface

If you love data, pantone, and cinematography, then you will love this color analysis by Roxy Radulescu. The LA-based graphic designer originally from Illinois was inspired to look into cinematographic color choice when she was watching Skyfall, directed by Sam Mendes. She selected a still and used a color generator in Photoshop to get the basic swatch ranges, then she composed the general color palette of the most prominent colors in the still. She has continued to use this process on some of the most popular films in cinema history, choosing a theme each week. This past week she took requests, but before that she had Scorsese, Hitchcock, Kubrick, and Tarantino week. With so many amazing films out there, Radulescu will not be running out of content anytime soon to keep this Tumblr going strong! [Read more...]

vintage photos discovered 1vintage photos discovered 2

Vintage camera collector Chris Hugues was picking up another camera to add to his 300 plus collection. To his surprise, he found two packages of slides in the worn leather case. Thus began a journey to “hunt” vintage cameras with undeveloped film still in the case or camera. [Read more...]
