1 cat hero by Jenny Parks

If you’ve ever wondered what The Walking Dead’s Daryl Dixon would look like as a cat, wonder no more. Made internet famous by her “Doctor Mew” illustration, Jenny Parks is at it again with her Catvengers series. Featuring a green Hulkitty Persian, a Siamese Iron Cat, and a slender beige Captain Catmerica, Parks matches each character’s personality with the perfect feline. Parks is a freelance scientific illustrator in San Frnacisco, and as most scientists, a self-proclaimed “shameless nerd”. She got her BFA in illustration from California College of the Arts, and a graduate degree in Science Illustration from UC Santa Cruz. [Read more...]

Four-Eyed Cats are Creepy… Like Real Cats

Casey Weldon 4 Eyed Cats 3

Without even trying, cats can be really creepy at times. Well actually, maybe they are trying. They run maniacally around the house for seemingly no reason; they hide in boxes for us to find them; and most disconcertingly, they stare at us with those big, glowing, curious eyes. Artist Casey Weldon knows this so he’s lately been creating cat paintings with double the creepiness – cats with four eyes. [Read more...]

Boss Cats. They Rule. You Don’t.

Wednesday 09.26.2012 , Posted by

At one point in life, one must ask the question: “who’s the boss, me or my cat?” These felines have a strong attitude and they are the bosses of their respective homes. If you stroke them the wrong way you’re on your way to receiving a nice new scratch mark on those expensive jeans you bought last week. They will let you know real quick who the boss is. We Love Friday!- Fancy Featured Felines

Friday 09.14.2012 , Posted by

When I was a little girl, my mom got me the best birthday present ever: a newborn long-haired Persian kitten. Although my parents referred to her as “The Cat from Hell” since she gave us and our entire neighborhood ringworm- to the point that my dad and I got our rashes photographed for medical books- on top of being deaf, having an over-production of eye gunk in her 2 different colored eyes, chronically peeing on my mom’s new carpet, and having ear mites, I loved that cat to pieces. So much so that I still associate the entire Mariah Carey Christmas album (“Miss You Most at Christmastime”, “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, etc) and “Always” by Bon Jovi with crying in my room in hopes that she would return after she ran away. She never did return, so this post is dedicated to my “special” cat, Natasha. [Read more...]

Cats Pose as Famous Art Portraits

Tuesday 05.01.2012 , Posted by

Cats. You either love them or hate them. Recently, some cats have made a bold artistic statement by posing as models from famous paintings from the past 500 years. Works that were stroked by the likes of Rembrandt and Degas or nurtured by the Renaissance period were some of the pieces the felines have chosen to channel. [Read more...]

Headshots: Happy Toys In Real Life

Wednesday 03.28.2012 , Posted by

Ok, I’m predicting a new meme… or at least someone out there should kick it off: Photoshopping kids toys onto your own head. These perfectly executed photographs take the heads from favorite movies like Toy Story, Star Wars and Bambi (ok, and a random cat because it’s the internet) and places them perfectly on the head of a human. Instead of looking like simply a mask or a sticker, the matched hues, lighting and orientation give them an all together lifelike appearance… almost enough to believe these characters are real. So, what’s next? He-man? Care Bears? Wall E? Consider it your daily photoshop challenge. [Read more...]
