In a dismal, black and white world of number crunching, three rotund characters lead an angry depressing existence… until one day a mysterious splash of color changes everything and infects the land with fun and happiness. #killswitch: A Documentary About the Free Internet

From historic uprisings in North Africa and the Middle East to the Telecom mergers in the States, 2011 has already proven to be a pretty tumultuous year for the Internet… and we’ve still got 6 months to go.

Enter the new documentary #killswitch. The filmmakers at Akorn Entertainment aim to make the case that a free and open Internet is essential for democracy and they launched a kickstarter.com campaign to prove it. Topics of the film include: the special relationship between Internet Service Providers and the United States Government; media consolidation; Julian Assange and WikiLeaks; and the revolving door between governments and big media. Skateboarding: Filmed From Every Angle

This might be one of the most creative uses of GoPro cameras yet. Fittingly titled ‘Extremities,’ skater Aryeh Kraus was covered with 5 of the tiny cameras, one per knee, one per arm and one on his head… and a bonus camera underneath his board. We’re pretty sure capturing kick-flips from multiple synced angles has never been done before… but we’re more sure this is utterly captivating. Ever since he was a child, Jack Horner has been dreaming of two things: becoming a paleontologist and having a pet dinosaur. So far he’s accomplished one of those tasks and the other is the subject of this TED Talk.

Horner is fun and captivating in his account of the various experiments and discoveries along his rocky path toward creating one of the prehistoric behemoths. Coming Soon: Interactive 360 Degree iPhone Video

Have you ever been filming an event, trying to capture all the amazing moments, only to find all of the magic happening outside the frame? Well, thankfully that problem will soon be part of the past. iPhone 4 users will soon be able to snap a small, pocket sized device called “Dot” onto their phone and take full 360 degree video. Immediately afterward that video can be viewed and navigated via an iPhone based app or computer based software. Kõgeto, a New York based company, recently launched a Kickstarter campaign aimed at producing the device which has already been enthusiastically funded by over 200 percent (obviously people want a Dot!).
