ARKYD [ahrk-kid] is slated to be the first publicly accessible space telescope controlled by you. Through pledges and community involvement the project founder Planetary Resources is planning to put the equivalent of tens of millions of dollars into the hands of students, scientists and a new generation of explorers. Think about it, ideas we haven’t even conceived of can now be tested at anywhere from free to cheap prices, opening up a world of possibilities previously unreachable by the vast intellect of society. how_to_control_your_dreams-header

Most of us have many types of dreams… but few of us realize there’s far more to experience. Some dreams are wild adventures in mysterious lands; some are the frustrating type where we repeatedly try to do something that never seems to work; others are crazy nightmares that startle us awake in a cold sweat; and some are sex dreams that add a little spice to our lives (ooh la la!). But have you ever had a dream that you could control? [Read more…]

Microscopic crystal flowers Wim I Noorduin 2

To the delight of fans of epic fantasy fiction stories and grand blockbuster HBO productions (or people who’ve just grown to adore Peter Dinklage), Game of Thrones has returned to television for its third season. We and the good people at Double Neat have been chronicling the return with our special menu of cocktails inspired by iconic characters from the show – you can check out past posts here and here . For our third installment, we tackle the wily bunch beyond the walls of the Seven Kingdoms called the Wildings. Equality House Westboro Baptist 1

The “Westboro Baptist Church” of Topeka, Kansas has caused a lot of pain and frustration due to their extreme actions. They’ve protested at the funerals of American soldiers killed in action and shown their strong anti-gay message with picket signs reading “Pray for more dead soldiers” and “Fags die, God Laughs.” The small group is largely considered a disgrace to America, the Christian faith and humanity, and has thus garnered significant media attention.
