Vintage Album Sleuth Hunts Down Locations of Covers
Album cover sleuth Bob Egan is at it again with a whole new set of locations for the albums of your favorite musical artists… this time with a heavy Billy Joel influence. In our last post we mentioned that we were lucky enough to serendipitously run across Egan in a New York eatery, where we found out about his fascinating hobby of collecting not only the locations, but the exact angles that original album cover photographs were taken from. Many of his images feature his much loved Big Apple, but in a few of his latest examples he uses the wonders of Google maps and the internet as a whole to find his locations around the world through digital means. The Curious Case of the Hue Shifting Movie Poster
Since its inception over 100 years ago, a curious and clear shift has been striking the movie industry, or more exactly, the industry of the movie poster. Over the last century we have seen the posters advertising each years films, both large and small, take a decided shift in hue towards two specific colors. We might not know this without the interesting and comprehensively compiled color charts created by Vijay Pandurangan, but thanks to his inquisitive and diligent work, we can now easily see which colors have steadily gained prominence in the movie posters of today compared with those created at the beginning of popular film. Mobile kitchens are hot right now… and this might be one of the tastiest, and hottest renditions yet. Native New Yorker, Jon Darsky, has created a delicious, savory and filling pizzeria on wheels… a Freighliner M2 truck to be exact. The large diesel carries a transatlantic shipping container on its back, modified with glass windows to display its gorgeous designer interior, including a massive 5,000-lb Stefano Ferrara wood-fired brick oven.
