Iconic Bands in Lego Adly Syairi Ramly 7

For LEGO and music lovers, these images are a match made in… well, LEGO actually. Malaysian Adly Syairi Ramly has been building iconic bands out of tiny LEGO figures – and the results are surprisingly recognizable. Yes, the Beatles rendition above is easy to identify, but just check out how pitch-perfect he’s gotten less obvious bands like Pearl Jam and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. I almost wish the titles weren’t there so we could play ‘guess the band’. [Read more...]

hunter-motorcycle-1

I have loved Hunter Thompson’s writing ever since, in high school, the film of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas starring Johnny Depp turned me on to the book of the same name. You don’t forget a sentence like, “We were somewhere around Barstow when the drugs began to take hold.”

And you shouldn’t dismiss him, as some critics have, as a sloppy, self-indulgent, drug-ingesting hack. Here are some of the best reasons why you should read his books and take him seriously. [Read more...]

nick_pedersen15

Nick Pedersen has a vision of the future, and he’s revealing it to us through vast landscapes of a world after the “peak” of human civilization. His stunningly detailed works see humans in a not so distant time, surrounded by the ruins of society as we know it.

Here is a world filled with nuclear power plants long dormant; the rusting hulks of cruise ships that no longer sail; and even the remnant scribbles of street art no longer speaking. It’s not all bleak however – because despite the cold, nature has come back with abundance. [Read more...]
