Valentine’s Day is rarely the stuff dreams are made of, and usually has more of a sink-or-swim aesthetic to it. The stress of planning a perfect outing causes borderline paralysis. You knew the day was coming for weeks, mostly because you’ve seen the candy aisles at Target light up with pink, red, and white. Your significant other was dropping hints about what they wanted like it was going out-of-style. But, you were too busy wondering which was in more dire need of being replenished — your socks or underwear — and didn’t pay heed to any of these signs. This graphic has complied the best apps to help you figure out how to impress your significant other because in our modern time, love is in the cloud. [Read more…]

Being healthy is becoming more important. Foods are over processed, we’re working longer hours, sleeping less, and sitting is killing us. Many of us realize we need to change our ways, but sometimes we try to do too much at once and just end up spinning our wheels and staying in place. One idea is to try not to do too much at once, and take getting healthy one step at a time. digital jailhouses-1

These illustrations were created for a print campaign in Go Outside Magazine, and portray the current digital landscape in bleaker terms than we’re all used to seeing. Digital advancement is coveted and hailed on major news outlets all across the web. Each day, people are encouraged to create the next big: social network, music site, mobile app technology, or inspired to integrate technology into a current service – like the Uber town car service in San Francisco. While it can be seen that technology is advancing our lives, is anyone stopping to look at how we’re also becoming prisoners to it as well? These digital jailhouse illustrations by Felipe Luchi explore this idea, and allow us to take a hard look at what we’re really getting ourselves into. [Read more…]

Nostalgia Ultra: Child of the 90s

Nostaliga. I just love the way the word slips off the tongue, and excites my memory banks. Just the mention of the word sends images racing through my mind at breakneck speeds. I grew up a child of the 90s. Nirvana was one of the first bands I ever really got into (In Utero was the first album I ever slipped into my my Sony Discman® and prayed the skip stabilizer would hold). My shoes either pumped up so I could run faster and jump higher during the day — or — lit up to light my way at night, when I stayed out after the street lights came on. Internet Explorer was born in the 90s, and as they grew up, a generation known as Millennials did too. Which makes this campaign tug a little harder on the heart strings — for those who remember. IAmArnold-AMA--visualnews

On January 15th, 2013, the Governator — armed with nothing more than an iPad, his razor sharp wit, and the confidence that comes from being in one of the greatest movies ever made, “Twins” — stormed the Internet to take part in Reddit’s hugely popular IAmA = “I Am A” subreddit, asking users to AMA = “Ask Me Anything”. This section of the popular social news site allows users to submit themselves to the community, giving people the chance to ask them any question they’d like. Arnold’s AMA was hugely popular, garnering 35,700 up votes in the first three hours of his submission. One of the coolest aspects of his AMA is that he came armed with technology, and a willingness to draw. [Read more…]

The future of the human species always seems to hang perilously between excitement and destruction. Excitement for the future of technology, and the improvements it can bring to our lives; and destruction, because every week there seems to be another disaster. Our hope and determination to survive against all odds will bring about an exciting new way of life. As technology continues to advance, will we begin to see all types of changes come our way, transforming our living spaces into scenes out of 60s retro futuristic drawings? Imagining what apartment living in 2080 will look like is a great way to daydream about the future. [Read more…]

It’s that time of year again, the flu season. The time of year where everyone at your office is, “Ah-Choo-ing!” on keyboards and sink faucets, manhandling microwave and refrigerator door handles, drooling on water fountains, and somehow managing to press every button on the vending machine with their bacteria infested digits. Before you know it, the entire office has been turned into sniffling, sneezing, aching, and coughing flu zombies. If you aren’t able to get the flu under control this year, you’ll end up finding out the true cost of getting the flu. [Read more…]

Graphic: Google’s Panda and Penguin Shake Up the Net

Thursday 01.10.2013 , Posted by

Over the past 12 years, Google has done its best to keep the black sailed marauders of the SEO world from taking over their search engine with bad links from junky websites. Google works hard to ensure that their algorithms continue to make these black-hat SEO practitioners stay in the dark. While they make minor changes yearly, every so often the search engine behemoth makes a major update that heavily affects SEO. Two of the recent updates are the animalistic algorithms of Google’s not-so-cuddly Panda, and slippery Penguin shakeups. [Read more…]

The story behind mankind is a wild epic; a tale of determination and survival by a species that holds superior thinking power to any other life form around them. It’s a tale that spans thousands of years and documents the stepping stones in our journey from hunter-gatherer to global citizen. Holiday Travel: Which Airports are the Most Reliable?

Tuesday 12.11.2012 , Posted by

Traveling during the holidays is a necessary evil for many of us. Some are lucky enough to have family live in the same city —or a neighboring one — and their travel times are basically nonexistent. Then, there are the unfortunate bunch who had to nail down their air travel plans months ago to make sure they’d arrive home in time for the holidays. Air travel is always stressful during the winter holidays, but nothing incites frustration and rage more than a delayed or cancelled flight. [Read more…]
