Film posters are perfect depicting the overall theme of a movie. They can feature the actors, a prominent scene, or just a stylized title. But for one poster artist from Manchester, UK, film posters can do more than just entice people to come watch the movie they’re advertising.
The posters that Jordan Bolton creates don’t feature any actors, but rather they contain the prop elements of the film. Bolton produces each poster by carefully recreating objects from the film, arrange them, then photograph the end result using no digital effects to create the final product.
Bolton describes the project:
“By focusing purely on the objects and colour palette of the film, I see the posters as providing an interesting and fresh perspective on the film’s themes and characters even for someone who has seen the film many times.”
The poster series, Objects, recreates objects from films such as Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox and Moonrise Kingdom to Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Amelie and movie classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Each poster is beautifully arranged and the color scheme he chose for each poster do well to reflect the essence of the movie they’re portraying.
