In Chinese philosophy the yin yang represents the complementary nature of all things. Light and dark are not opposing forces, rather interconnected and necessary to maintain harmony. Creative Director Dalip Singh uses this motif to design in depth illustrations of the Earth. The images show the dual forces of destruction and nature’s beauty at the same time. The illustrations feature the elements Land, Water, and Air. The light side of the yin yang is clinging for survival as the darkness covers the majority of the image, showing the horribly skewed imbalance of the Earth that humans have caused.
Working with the McCann Worldgroup India, Singh worked with 2 illustrators for over a month to create the rough sketches. Color was then added with watercolors and the images were photographed, digitized, and retouched. May the images bring awareness and hope that we can restore the balance of the Earth.
