Joshua Renouf’s new alarm clock might be the most sublime way to greet the day: his Barisieur alarm clock is also a coffee-maker. In an intriguing mix of high and low tech, the charming design combines classic wood detailing and glass brewing apparatus, with induction heated ball bearings that clink together to gently bring you to consciousness. Combine that with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and this is one perfect way to awaken.

Renouf says the coffee maker is also intended to encourage a ritual before going to sleep, one which “signals the body and mind that it is time to unwind and relax.” It’s in these moments of preparation that we set the intention for our coming day, setting the stage for renewed energy, focus and purpose.

The London-based designer has a talent for building unexpected uses into his creations – like his “Ally Lamp” which transforms from a table light into a portable light source. See more of his work here.
