Last year well known artistic welder Joe Beal had a dream. In his dream he imagined a heart with 4 arches shooting below to stand it up, while in the center a love swing hung from the bottom lit up in hot pink. Upon waking up, Joe knew what he had to do: build it and share it with the world. He got to work in his welding studio and with support from friends he created what became to be known as the “Dream Swing.” Happily, it was installed at a place where many people could interact and see it: The Burning Man gathering in the Nevada desert.
The Dream Swing was a huge success in the sense that many people loved it and used it. At the conclusion of the week long Burning Man gathering there was even an offer by someone to have the piece permanently installed at a location where weddings are held. Joe was more than pleased.
Now, Joe is inspired to create another Dream Swing – but this time with more places to sit, more LED lights (8,400 to be exact) and a plan to make it a bit bigger. His hope is that it will serve as a nice “bus stop” for the many art cars that drive around at Burning Man. Currently Joe has an IndieGoGo campaign going, and so far $3,350 of the $5,200 goal is raised. With two weeks to go, any contribution would be much appreciated so that it can be experienced and loved again in the amazing atmosphere of the 50,000 plus participants of Burning Man. If you happen to attend the gathering this year, check out the Dream Swing over at the Pink Heart Camp located at 9:30 & Esplanade. Check out the video below and the campaign here.
