Balloon Man takes one Last Walk before dying

balloonman01

What is so special about an old man walking around with a balloon? While there may not be anything particularly unique about the photos that Viktor Gårdsäter took, the real beauty is found when one understands the meaning behind the images.

They story is of an old man who has lived his life and is doing one last walk. It is his last day on earth and the balloon symbolizes death. Soon death will take him away, but not before he visits all the old places he remembers through his life. Through his walk, he visits playgrounds, parks and buildings. The title of the work is “Balloon Man’s Last Walk” and more information on the work can be found here.
