Chinatown Markets in Kuala Lumpur

Yes, we know you may not want to see photos of fish heads being chopped in a funky Chinatown market… but, the world is full of interesting places to visit, see and yes, smell. If you ever find yourself in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, one must-see destination is the Chinatown district.

While Petaling Street in Chinatown may be more famous for selling pirated DVDs and CDs than for its fish and meat, they are nonetheless fascinating photos from Netherlands based photographer Ron Gessel. In his journeys to Kuala Lumpur, he photographed the fish and meat markets in the vibrant enclave and captured a bit of the life that goes on there daily.
