Taking The Subway From New York to Chicago

Heading home for the holidays? Maybe your folks live back in Brooklyn, or maybe they live out in the sticks. Just how far and where could you get if the NYC subway lines were laid end-to-end in one direction?

As the graphic below states, New York city’s 656 miles of track would get you to a good portion of the East Coast, Canada, or nearly to Chicago. The windy city never seemed so close. Of course it would be a lot of hours spent with that guy standing in the corner playing a broken guitar.
