There are so many reasons to head for the country and live lightly on the earth: from protecting our fragile environment, to leaving the speed and stress of city life behind, or just getting to live by your own rules. Photographer Immo Klink has an ongoing project which captures the dwellings of people around Europe who have made the challenging decision to step outside the confines of industrial society, creating their own homes out of the natural world at hand.

The homes Klink’s camera has seen range from carefully crafted artwork resembling cozy hobbit homes, to fragile buildings which could be considered little more than a quickly erected tent. His exploration of these homes and their community of people took him around western europe, from the cold highlands of Scotland to the warm south of Spain. The unique and interesting people he met along the way are captured in his companion series’ of photographs called Dwellers and Life. 1. Oh so cool to be off the grid.. We are in the process of trying to as much as we can…. It’s a process, but it’s worth trying for, if not for ourselves but for our land, our earth…. to reduce the footprints of our greed and arrogance is a wonderous thing to pay back to our fellow forests, our fellow furry little forest friends….. our air, our earth…. Namaste
