Decommissioned AK 47 Rifles Become Symbols of Peace

Twenty-three artists have transformed twenty-three AK 47 assault rifles into beautiful artworks for an inspiring exhibition called AKA Peace. The Peace One Day organization funds itself through projects like this and has worked with the United Nations to declare a global day of peace on September 21st every year. Peace One Day gives us hope; if everyone can put down their weapons for one day, why not one month or one year? Their latest project is called Global Truce 2013. Join and follow the movement on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.

What exactly is an ‘assault rifle’? Is that like an ‘attack toothbrush’? It’s gibberish, and it panders to the low brow intellectuals who think gun violence is associated with ‘guns’ when it’s really associated with the idiots toting them.

And don’t get me started about curbing violence by removing guns – every day there are MASSACRES on the roads when hundreds of people die every single day from driving unsafe and too quickly – yet there are no moves to ban passenger cars or sports cars or anything of that nature. If you want to ban something dangerous ban cigarettes – at least we know they have no purpose other than to kill you. At least you can take your rifle to the range for some fun, shoot some helpless animals or protect yourself when the police are waiting out their 3 minutes to let the attack be over so they don’t get confronted when they arrive.
