Staircases are one of the oldest structures in the history of architecture. Some have a practical purpose and some are works of art, but all of them can take you to a higher level- in terms of both elevation and fitness. “The Harvard Alumni Study found that men who average at least eight flights a day enjoy a 33 percent lower mortality rate than men who are sedentary — and that’s even better than the 22 percent lower death rate men earned by walking 1.3 miles a day.” It’s amazing how much money the fitness industry has made off of new equipment when most people have had free access to this effective tool since the beginning of civilization!
