Not far away in an alternate universe, wild animals don helmets for piloting jets, riding motorcycles and going to war. These passionate characters are the creation of Rhys Owens, a Welsh artist who’s been stricken with a serious case of cool… and we’re all lucky that he’s sharing.

Owens uses a variety of techniques to create his works, ranging from the traditional to the digital. Regardless of method, they have a appropriately grungy look, as if the images were lifted off cement walls who have met a talented stencil artist: paint drips, rich textures and street based themes abound. In fact, not all his characters have helmets – some are satisfied to accessorize with hoodies, Ray-Bans and paint rollers. You’ll find more and a collection of very cool gear at Owen’s site, Hidden Moves.
