Somewhere between camouflage and interior decorating lies the wild body art of Cecilia Paredes. The women she paints merge into their backgrounds with such convincing ability, they look almost as if they are emerging out of them. Her photography is an attempt to demonstrate that the body of the woman – often her own – is a sacred zone, and through changing our perception of how it is viewed, strives to help us view it as something miraculous amidst the technological world we live in.

Born in Lima, Peru, Cecilia Paredes lived and worked in Costa Rica between 1998 and 2004, after which she moved to her current home in Philadelphia. Her unusual and challenging photographic work has garnered much attention around the world. Find her work for sale on Artnet.com.
