My Better Half: Couples Share How They Met

Sometimes the things that really count are the smallest of all, and Amanda Jane Jones knows that. A freelance graphic designer and letterpress artist from Michigan, she’s been diligently working on a site called My Better Half. On the site she’s taken a simple idea and created something truly beautiful, touching and really fun. Photographing joyous couples together, she tells their love story and then creates perfect photographs of the two with clean typographic anecdotes about each of them.

The images serve to remind us of the small things in life, and love, which make us interesting and create the spark which draws us together as couples. Is she terrified of sharks? Can he build anything he sets his mind to? Does she throw a mean party? Does he wear his heart on his sleeve? Jones seems to pull out some of the most unique and revealing aspects of each of her subjects, treating them with almost as much love as they treat each other.

  1. Lovely concept and execution. I personally like the simple distillation knowing how long winded my own “how we met” story can be.
