Facetted Figure Illustrations by Giampaolo Miraglia

When you think of facetted geometric works, “soft” is rarely the thought that follows. Rome based designer Giampaolo Miraglia however, manages to create illustrations with just the right mix of both – geometrically facetted and silky smooth. He does this using a combination of carefully chosen harmonious color pallets along with warn textures overlaying the entire scene… and what scenes they are.

His work that we bring you here revolves around sports and war. While his dynamic 3D-like figures are the main portion of his work which get the graceful facetted treatment, the backgrounds are frequently more flat and traditional in nature. Here’s where he mixes in his further talent: making multiple illustration styles look amazingly good juxtaposed with each other. He throws in 3D figures next to strong 2D linear elements and technical like line drawings… and somehow they all merge together to form one beautiful whole. This guy is good.
