Picasso once said, “the world today doesn’t make sense, so why should I paint pictures that do?” To celebrate this non-sensical, amazing world and the talents of so many artists living among us, we are featuring some of our favorite paintings from Instagram. I never graduated beyond watercolors and stick figures, in fact both the adorable toddler and the otter below have surpassed me in painting, but I am forever in awe of the aptitude that so many of our featured artists possess. If you see a painting that you like, be sure to click on the link and show the Instagrammer some love!

If you are one of our featured artists, you are welcome to add a link to more of your work and tell us about your piece in the comments section below. Our theme for next week will be shadows, so if you’d like to be featured, get out your smartphone, capture an intriguing shadow, upload it to Instagram, and tag it #shadows @visualnews. We will feature the best ones next Friday. Have a glorious weekend and thanks for reading!

Hi there! The sloth painting is a piece I did for a friend on canvas with acrylics. I have an insane love for sloths. In fact, I recently won an international sock design competition using sloths! The socks will be produced in August 2012 by Sock It to Me sock company, and sold at stores around the world!
I’m a graphic designer and artist living in Portland, Oregon. You can find more of my work at http://www.mairweneslinger.com. But for the most up-to-date studio art I produce, follow me on Instagram @mairwenrose.
Thanks for featuring my pallet painting!
I painted it in about a minute and a half and (sadly) cleaned my pallet after.
I’m a fan haha
It’s Karen O. from Yeah Yeah Yeahs
By the way, @mistymorgannet, that painting is killer
These are all great, but that wolf is fantastic. It has the power to usher in a new generation of wolf shirts. Just think about it!
