Art is a tool for transformation, on both a personal and planetary level. We can use the arts to express our realities, promote and reflect social change, and connect more deeply with ourselves, each other, and the Earth. From the Lascaux cave paintings, to the Egyptian hieroglyphics, to current-day infographics, it has ever been the role of the arts to preserve and promote knowledge. These are some of the words from artist George “Geo” Atherton.

Geo is an enlightened digital artist who creates what he is most passionate about. Venturing to India to explore his journey as a yoga teacher, he found inspiration from his experiences there and it contributed to the shaping of his style and vision. His practices of martial artistry, asana, pranayama, meditation, and lucid dreaming are all areas that he says spark the center of his creative spirit.

Geo’s work is deep, and for those who look, each detail inspires a larger meaning.

Geo hopes to use his skills for the causes of social and environmental justice. By donating a portion of every art piece sold to reforestation and eco-homes, he also links his work to resources that promote a healthy conscious lifestyle and a participatory modality in the affairs of the planet.

The changing relationship between humans to the earth and to themselves are primary themes found in Geo’s work. They feature an external shift to a sustainable paradigm, along with an internal shift to a heightened state of awareness and what is defined as the “self.”

Here are some words from the artist himself:

“My intention is to embed revolutionary messages into my work that will encourage viewers to rise up, connect with each other and work to propel us into a brilliant new stage of human evolution.”

“My works are designed based on the belief that what we hold in our minds eventually happens. In my art, I work with visions of a harmonious, ecologically thriving world and Awakened states of being, in the hope that viewers of my work will joyfully manifest these states of being in their own lives. A truly open Internet makes it possible to share creative inspiration with vast numbers of people through the arts, and to that end I tag my own with links to the information that inspires it.”
