An Illustrated World of Patchwork Fantasy

Paris based artist Emmanuel Malin imagines fantastic etherial illustrations which see worlds made of wild splashes of patchwork color. His works walk a fine line between perfectionism and wild flourishes of free expression, giving his viewers the dreamlike experience of, at once seeing the image, and simultaneously being unable to fully grab hold of it.

Perhaps this is because Malin began his career in architecture and urbanism, yet later made a 90 degree change by pursuing an interest in medical and scientific illustration. His works blend these aspects, adding mythical yet lifelike creatures to landscapes which often include fantastically complex buildings which tower above the ground.

Beginning his freelance career working for museums, he then expanded his experience by pursuing work as a graphic designer and illustrator. His work has been used in all sorts of environments, from corporate communication, to international press, comics and video games. He recently spent 2 years as Art Director on an MMORPG and, always looking for new ways to explore his art, he’s now looking for new and different challenges to pursue. When not impressing people with his humbling humility, he can be found freelance writing, finding shiny objects on the internet, enjoying the company of much-appreciated friends and living out his nomadic nature.
