no boogieman under my bed-just a couple in my head

Picasso said: “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” Indeed, many of us who are in the art field find ourselves here because as children we continued to paint when others stopped. Perhaps some parents tried to dissuade us — even prohibit the occupation we chose — in order to follow something more… ”serious”. Others more fortunate, had the support of family who, recognizing our passion, prompted to us to follow the profession that we now practice.

Most of us working as designers, have the blessing of being able to say we turned our hobby into a profession. We say that very often, but how conscious are we of that in our daily lives? [Read more...]

Instagram Logo Comes to Life

Monday 05.14.2012 , Posted by

The combination of a polaroid camera and Instagram may be the dream of hipsters everywhere… and with a little luck that dream might become a reality. A marketing and communication studio called ADR Studio has created a concept design of an Instagram camera. They call it the Instagram Socialmatic. The camera would be a 16GB WIFi enabled camera that looks just like the Instagram logo. The concept features a flat 4:3 touch screen, WiFi and bluetooth function for instant sharing to Facebook, Led flash and optical zoom, two camera lenses for regular and filter shots, and even a 4 color printer for the polaroid fans out there. The printed images would include a QR code for connecting to photographer’s Instagram profile. The printed images also would have a sticky strip (like a post-it) to enable sticking it up wherever you please. [Read more...]

With the endangerment of species around the world it’s understandable in this day and age that there are special permits required in order to have certain exotic animals as pets… but not long ago was a time that the adoption of these animals were advertised in the local paper. All Fair in Love: Shifting Attitudes on Gay Marriage

Friday 05.11.2012 , Posted by

A wave of change is hitting the nation. Last June, New York became the largest state to legalize same-sex marriage under the Marriage Equality Act, making a precedent setting move and bringing further attention to the much discussed and debated issue. Now, just this Wednesday, President Obama became the first leader of the country to endorse legalizing same-sex marriage, stating “At a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married” (ABC News interview, May 9, 2012). According to an ABC Political Analysis, some advisers “pointing to rapidly changing public views of gay rights, say Obama has more to gain than lose by the move.” [Read more...]
