Pinned Skin: The Fashionable Collages of David Adey

Like a fragmented entomological display using portions of beautiful human skin, David Adey has created amazingly detailed collages of the human form and features. His works often incorporate pieces of famous celebrities like Rebecca Romijn and Misha Barton, cutting their image into miniscule shapes like butterflies, bats, birds and hearts, which he then arranges into a precisely pinned image on board. The result, when viewed from a distance, forms a whole which merges together in almost geometric form.

Adey has been creating his elaborate works, which are often fashion oriented, for such renowned companies as Bebe and Gucci. Not all his work takes the form of a human however. In the case of his piece Swarm he creates huge swirling textures out of lips, torsos, and other curving body parts in a process that can take an astounding 300 hours to complete.
