The work of two brothers is more than just a piece of art, it is a form of joint communication. James and Tom Gulliver work together to create colorful, explorative art. Tom was born with Down Syndrome and the work he creates with his brother allows him to communicate past his disability and use the art to show his feelings and thoughts. It is neat to see the brothers work together and create such interesting work. Each piece looks like an experiment where all of the parts are shown in an exploded view. They are full of layers, which makes them so intriguing. James makes the main image and Tom creates the outlying drawings. The subject matter seems to focus on people and their individual perceptions of the world around them — it gives the viewer a unique peek into both artist’s minds. [Read more...]
Awful Drawings to Make You Smile
These drawings are simply awful… and by awful, we mean awfully awesome. Paris based artist/sketcher Matthieu Barrère has been creating a slew of these well thought out and quickly drawn illustrations for a while now. His sense of humor is sometimes cheesy and sometimes even a bit dark, but always sure to make you smile. He looks at life from a skewed angle, often taking everyday cliches and giving them a new twist which brings them to life again. While reading through his large collection (which he’s generously placed in the Creative Commons), we couldn’t help but think of friends who would need to see one or two. [Read more...]

Levitating Sculptures Gracefully Defy Gravity
In woodlands, public spaces and private gardens around the world, artist Cornelia Konrads creates dreamlike outdoor sculptures that literally lift off the ground. In one case, the rocks making up a stone wall lift into the air as if pulled by an alien tractor beam; in another, woodland sticks converge from the forest floor to form a doorway to nowhere. It is a surreal and dreamlike experience which would certainly be special to encounter on a leisurely stroll. [Read more...]

Check out this graphic to see what they’re doing to stop this loss of revenue, and take a look at their gradual move towards new profit models. [Read more...]

Visualizing The Frightening Power of Nuclear Bombs
We have all heard about the massively destructive force that is nuclear weaponry, with the astonishing end of World War II to prove it. The world was caught off guard by the utter destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki after the U.S. dropped the 15 kiloton Little Boy and 21 kiloton Fat Man. The two Japanese cities were leveled in seconds, killing hundreds of thousands from the initial blast and later radiation poisoning. It would be difficult to call their impact small, but those bombs were only a shadow of the weapons to come. [Read more...]
All the Wild Horses
Where would we be without horses? Think of everything that humans have used them for since the beginning of civilization- farming, travel, sports, and military. It’s no wonder that they have been an inspiration for artists for centuries. Though we are not as reliant on horses as we once were, there is still something enthralling about their strength and beauty. South African photographer Andrew McGibbon has created a collection to honor the horse for all that it has done to make human life possible. Each image is distinct and shows an emotional depth and personality. [Read more...]
