The Kiwis have been getting more and more attention over the years. Lord of the Rings was filmed on their island, the Flight of the Concords enlightened us to the nuances of New Zealand culture, and over the years the islands to the South have continued as one of the top tourist destinations in the world. So for those considering a flight down to explore the islands, Air New Zealand has made the experience lighthearted like much of their culture is. The new safety videos for the planes have been reworked to give passengers a laugh instead of a snooze when watching the required safety briefing before the flight.

With the help of Richard Simmons, a handful of actors, dancers, sports stars and a disco deck on a plane, the new videos keep you laughing before the plane takes off. The flagship safety video has Simmons doing an adapted version of “Sweating to the Oldies” now called “Fit to Fly” that runs though the briefing like his fruity workout videos of the past. They have made other videos as well, some with their rugby team, the All Blacks, and another with the crew in only body paint called “Bare Essentials.” They round out the whole project with some hilarious ads including stars like David Hasslehoff, Lindsay Lohan and Snoop Dog. It even makes the idea of stuffing yourself on a plane from LA for 13 hours sound fun.
