In his fascinating collection of paintings, Visual Artist Bryan Keith Lanier puts a modern twist on ancient art. He often features iconic figures from art history, portraying them in a new, ambiguous light that is open to interpretation. Taking a humanist approach, Lanier invites his audience to form a personal connection with the situations he presents, challenging them to think in a new way. Lanier’s paintings and the titles he selects for them seem to create a meaningful account of the human experience.
According to Xavier Raymond:
Lanier creates allegories often touching on the pressures and conflicts of his own experience and modern-life at large. Filled with references to art history; there are often unspoken themes and layers of form and meaning lurking just below the surface of the images that he presents.
After 7 years as a glass artist and 8 years as a scenic artist with some of the best in the industry, Bryan Keith Lanier decided in 2006 to focus on his paintings in solo exhibitions and never looked back. After seeing his breathtaking collection, it is obvious that he made an excellent decision!
