In his latest documentary “Unbreakable:The Western States 100,” film maker JB Benna tells the story of the 2010 Super Bowl of Ultrarunning. The film follows 4 of the greatest mountain runners on Earth as they race to the finish line of the oldest and most prestigious 100 mile endurance run. All four men are undefeated and three will break their title, but one will remain Unbreakable.
I have worked with JB in the past and he truly lives his passion from running ultra marathons to doing whatever it takes to get a film done. Whether it be chasing down David Horton while he runs the entire Pacific Crest Trail (2,665 miles) from Mexico to Canada or filming Dean Karses while he completed his 50 states, 50 marathons in 50 days challenge, he is the only man alive I know who can hold a camera still while running full speed ahead. I got the chance to work with him at Journeyfilm and learned a lot of life long lessons. I’m proud to say that “Unbreakable” is his most successful film to date and I’m glad to see that JB has not let the film world break him.
