If you are a cartography buff, or really dig on some good old strategy gaming, then this game is for you. Like a new take on the classic board game Risk, the gaming site Major Command is quickly attracting a rabid fan-base of map hungry strategists from around the world. Their mission? Conquering the world by dominating their enemies.
Major Command (aka MajCom), features a stack of beautiful gaming maps that range from a single battlefield all the way to a worldwide scale. Like Risk, the maps are sectioned off into regions. After you are assigned randomly to a region, you are given troops to deploy in attacks or mobilize to a different region. When do you win? When you’ve conquered the entire map or reached the mission objective (aka victory target).
What makes MajCom unique? For one, you can decide whether to play on a Real Time or Casual schedule. As it sounds, real time happens pretty quick, seeing game completion in about an hour. With the popular casual gaming schedule however, you only make one move every 24 hours. Players tend to enjoy having the long time to think out their moves and frequently play multiple games at once to keep the action going.
Another feature that sets the game apart, is that you can play directed games with specific objectives and features like spies and bunkers. They even have situations like their soon to be released Conflict Africa; a board where your task is to quell various conflicts around the continent.
Check out the wonderfully illustrated maps below, then head to majorcommand.com, where you can play for free, forever. Very cool.

I love me some Risk! and this is bar none the best place I’ve found to play it online.
I recently stumbled upon MajCom and believe me, it has been my best find in years. Stunning maps, an active gaming community, and tons of customizable game features…. MajCom has it all!
Traditional board game..I loved it! New computer games are just too complicated for me these days.
MajComm is a good site. Conquer Club is another similar site with hundreds of maps and a very active and competitive community. I think there’s another one out there called LandGrab. The world is your oyster if you’re an avid Risk player.
