Friday 01.27.2012 , Posted by

In 2006 Terry Border started his Bent Objects blog as a way to make some extra coffee money. His thought was to grab some everyday objects, stick wire into them at strategic places to construct phenomenal characters reenacting daily life situations. Border states his reasons for making these creations was rather simple in design structure: “Basically, wire is very cheap, and ordinary objects are very cheap. Combining those two things together in a way that amuses me is fun and isn’t stressful like some other creative endeavors which cost lots of money for materials.” DIY creativity is a favorite for many people looking to spruce up their living area or fix up the yard… but creating hilarious DIY characters is a whole different form of creative genius. Retro Twist: Owen Gatley’s Editorial Illustrations

Thursday 01.26.2012 , Posted by

Owen Gatley is making all of the right strokes with his hand-drawn vintage illustration style. Gately’s vintage style is reminiscent of something you would see in an old children’s book, with the soft pencil strokes and shading that add a lot of depth and life to his scenes. It’s always nice to see artists adding craft back into their work, which he does splendidly through mainly using hand drawn illustration. The use of bright, often primary colors teamed with conceptual images, makes his environments fun and engaging… with just the right amount of detail. [Read more...]
