Looking into the mind of an artist through her works can be surprising and delightful. Artistic photographer, Ludhye (Elise Consentino) gives us this pleasure through her dramatic photographs. Having worked in a show company as a visual performer for 13 years, Ludhye finds inspiration from cinema, legends, sci-fi, “retro futurism”, and notably, steam punk. Living and working in France, she describes herself as an “image maker rather than a purist photographer,” for she most enjoys the process of editing her photos to reveal pieces of her inner-self and how she sees the world. And we are offered a very special gift in the finished products- after hours of her personal editing. Beautiful, stunning and provocative, Ludhye’s works of art allow us a glimpse into her psyche. She shares a piece of herself, her history, her thoughts and emotions in every picture she creates.
Early in her photography career, Ludhye discovered a particular interest and enjoyment in photographing dolls. As her first models, she was intrigued by how they could show human emotions through the lens of her camera. Moving forward with human models, she strives to pull us out of the real world into an imaginary world of symbols and dreams. She often works with other artists, such as Reve de Mars, to help promote their work because enjoys representing them in creative and surreal ways. In our interview with the artist, Ludhye expressed, “I believe in the universality of human emotions, and in the power of pictures as symbols to express them. I don’t feel like just showing what my biological eyes can see. I need to share something else- from me.”
Ludhye has received a Silver Award from Dabomba for her dramatic photography work. See her complete collection on her web gallery and start following her on Facebook and Flickr.
