Startup Ecosystem: A Fishy Look at Predator vs. Prey

When it comes to startups, it’s a dog eat dog world… or is that a fish eat fish ocean? This funny graphic looks at the delicate balance of predator vs. prey in the “Startup Ecosystem,” with a ocean themed and cleverly illustrated aesthetic. The CEO whale with a rolex and a coffee mug, and the seahorse designer with a scarf… perfect!

Each sea creature in the graphic is paired with its predators and prey… some of these associations are right on, like the designers predator being corrupt files (ouch!) or social marketeers prey being Facebook fans.

One question this graphic seems to humorously raise: how does a startup balance all of its key players, not neglecting their individually important roles? Many great ideas fall far short of success simply by ignoring the important people either inside or outside of the business. Many would argue that a game-plan must be made for working with tech bloggers… just as much as a CEO needs to be a good leader or a designer create a marketable product. It’s a watery, uncertain world though, and often the best game-plan is continually pushing forward… crossing your flippers for luck.
